As part of its mission to promote mathematical culture with the general public, the Henri Poincaré Institute offers its Cine club Convergent Universes; Sciences, Fictions, Society in partnership with the Grand Action cinema (Paris 5), every last Tuesday of the month from January to June 2015. Each of the 6 shows of this cycle will be followed by a discussion with specialists. The shows are aimed at a wide audience, and there is no need to be versed in mathematics to attend and enjoy them. Social, societal and ethical science-related issues will be debated by the speakers and the audience.
Convergent Universes; Sciences, Fictions, Society; when 3 universes meet, question one another and become a dialogue opportunity between scientists and the general public. This event is a new way of highlighting the links between mathematics and the other scientific disciplines, while exploring some issues and dreams involving science in our world.
Access to the show is free, subject to the availability of seats.
Please arrive half an hour before the start of the show, and bring your booking confirmation email.
