Poincaré Chair

poster poincare Chair

The Poincaré Chair owes its creation and its existence for the next five years to the reward the Clay Mathematics Institute (CMI, Providence, Rhode Island) has reserved for the solution of the Poincaré Conjecture. The aim of this program, started in January 2013 by the Henri Poincaré Institute, is to allow young talented mathematicians to develop their skills in outstanding working conditions… Just like Grigori Perelman benefited from a chair from the Miller Institute in Berkeley (California, USA) at the beginning of his career.

This research program of a 6 month or 1 year duration is open to all the research thematics in mathematics. The objective is to give young research workers on the edge of a promising international career the means to develop deep and audacious research projects, as well as to base their international recognition.

The candidates who wish for it and whose request meets the required conditions can count on the support of the HPI’s administrative team to organize classes or any other type of activity based on the diffusion of knowledge, without any teaching constraint. Travels within France and Europe are strongly recommended. However, worldwide travels must be scientifically motivated. The laureates will receive a very attractive salary that easily covers the costs and needs of a comfortable stay in Paris (with their families if need be).

The selection process takes place under the responsibility of a top-hand international jury which composition must be approved by CMI's head. Their skills include several fields of mathematics: Artur Avila; Gérard Ben Arous; Simon Donaldson; Ingrid Daubechies; Laszlo Lovasz; Claire Voisin
