Ph D Programs
Teaching at the graduate level has always been one of the major missions of the Institut Henri Poincaré (IHP). Doctoral courses have been for years a feature of the trimester programs organized by the Centre Emile Borel, and university courses have also been hosted occasionally at the IHP.
Following the recommendations of our Steering Committee, the IHP has decided to extend this to an independent activity, offering each year a selection of high-level Ph D courses, aimed at French and foreign students. We are well aware that the collaborations in science depends on random encounters, and of the extent to which an inspiring course may be a determinant in the future of a career, even of a subject.
Our approach will at first be tentative: we shall count on the feedback of participants and organizers in order to improve and extend our activities.
