It is a gathering place where all mathematicians are welcome to organize conferences and seminars, to make an appointment to discuss or work. It is used as the French mathematics ambassy to the press and the public, and works in close partnership with associations and societies for the promotion of mathematics. No fewer than nine of these institutions are housed at the IHP.
The Institute also organizes and sponsors many events to a wider audience.
Last year, the IHP was celebrating the bicentenaryl of the birth of Evariste Galois (in partnership with the SMF), the birth of the Mathematic Park and was listed as a partner of the exhibition at the Fondation Cartier "Mathematics - A beautiful Elsewhere" .
2012 is devoted, among other things, to the commemoration of our favorite mathematician, who died a hundred years ago: Henri Poincaré. He is unique in the history of French science, and his mathematical genius was matched by his talents as a physicist, an engineer and a philosopher.
This day was the occasion of reliving a mathematical history chapter, to catch the major principles and discover scientific, technical and social applications of this great genius
