On tropical enumeration of curves

In this talk I will give an elementary introduction to tropical techniques in classical enumerative geometry. We'll consider several examples, in particular, enumeration of rational plane sections of a quartic surface in $P^3$ and that of lines on a cubic 3-fold in $P^4$. The talk will also compare enumeration in real and in complex geometries.
