Maurice Audin Prize in mathematics 2022

Start date :

The Maurice Audin Prize

Initiated in 2004 by the Association Maurice Audin (nowadays, the Association Josette and Maurice Audin), the Maurice Audin Prize is awarded every two years to a mathematician in Algeria and a mathematician in France.

The 2022 laureates

On Monday, May 23rd, the biennial Maurice Audin Mathematics Prize award ceremony took place at the Institut Henri Poincaré. The laureates are Samir Bedrouni and Yacine Chitour.

Samir Bedrouni is a lecturer at the Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology  (USTHB) in Algiers. Aged 38, he prepared his thesis under the supervision of David Marín at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and defended it in 2017 at the Faculty of Mathematics of the USTHB.

His work focuses on foliations in complex geometry, and more specifically on the classification of the complex projective plane foliations.

In 2021, he was laureate of the Institut national des sciences mathématiques et de leurs interactions (INSMI) Maurice Audin Chair, and has made several stays at the Institut de Recherche mathématique de Rennes during which he developed fruitful collaborations with Frank Loray.

Yacine Chitour is a professor at the Signals & Systems Laboratory of the University of Paris-Saclay at CentraleSupélec. After completing his thesis at the Rutgers University Department of Mathematics in the United States, he obtained his research habilitation in 2003 at the Université Paris Sud.
Member of the Institut Universitaire de France, Yacine Chitour is a specialist in control theory. His work covers a wide range of topics in the field, from the stabilisation of controlled systems to geometric control, including the control of partial differential equations and difference equations.
He is scientific officer for the North Africa and Middle East zone of the Centre International de Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA).
